ABOUT HALEY

Haley Healey grew up among the lakes, white pines and rocky Canadian Shield of Muskoka, Ontario. She attended Laurentian University for an undergraduate degree and Vancouver Island University for a teaching degree. After university, she worked as a tree planter, an outdoor educator, and a physical education teacher. Eventually, she earned a Master's degree in counselling psychology and is now a high school counsellor.
Although she's always adored books and reading, Haley didn't set out to be a writer. She was inspired to write about women from Vancouver Island's past after touring Cougar Annie's garden after a hiking trip. Her first book, On Their Own Terms: True Stories of Trailblazing Women of Vancouver Island, was a BC Bestseller for numerous weeks. Currently, Haley is working on a thriller that takes place on Vancouver Island.
Haley lives in Nanaimo, British Columbia and enjoys cycling, trail running, and exploring Vancouver Island's backcountry.
